ON SEPTEMBER 4/5 201O I AM PLANNING A NATIONAL BURGEN RELAY GOING ANTI-CLOCKWISE AROUND ENGLAND, CARRIED BY THE BIKER COMMUNITY OF ENGLAND FOR THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UK. I HAVE A BURGEN THAT HAS SEEN SERVICE IN AFGHANISTAN, AND IT WILL BE RELAYED AROUND THE COUNTRY. A BURGEN IS THE NAME THE ARMY CALL THEIR RUCKSACKS, AND THESE ARE WHAT THE LADS CARRY THEIR EQUIPMENT IN, OFTEN WEIGHING 60 OR 70+ LBS. I NEED BIKERS AND BIKE CLUBS TO PULL TOGETHER ON THIS ONE, TO TRANSPORT THE BURGEN ALL AROUND ENGLAND. IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO COLLECT CASH FOR THIS RUN, BUT I AM PLANNING THAT PEOPLE FILL THE BURGEN WITH PLEDGES AND PLEDGE MONEY TO AFGHAN HEROES. THE RELAY WILL START FROM KING'S LYNN, AND KING'S LYNN BIKERS AND RIDERS CLUB WILL PASS THE BURGEN TO THE NEAREST BIKE CLUB THAT SIGNS UP TO THIS. THIS IS DOABLE, AND I THINK IT'S POSSIBLE TO GET THE BURGEN BACK VIA THE WHOLE OF ENGLAND TO KING'S LYNN WITHIN 48 HOURS. Wings Appeal Band Concert

The Great North Run

Lee Bratley is running The Great North Run on behalf of Afghan Heroes. This is the worlds biggest half marathon (13.1 miles) and takes place along a route from Gateshead to South Shields, in Newcastel-upon-Tyne. Some 50,000 + runners take part every year, with some big names including Paula Radcliffe, live coverage from the BBC and Radio 5 Live. We are a team of 4 guys that will be walking the west highland way with full kit (un-aided) to raise money for Afghan Heroes. We raised nearly 1000 pounds last year for help for heroes and would like to raise the same again or more. The west highland way is a 95 mile hike through the west highlands of scotland covering all different types of terrain. We will be carrying everything we need for the way and not using any bag carrying service or hotels. Also we will be tackling the highest mountain in the uk Ben Nevis after we complete the walk.

They will be releasing it on October 9th 2010, alongside a calendar for 2011. The money raised from the sale of both of these will be split between Afghan Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Trust. UPDATE ON THE TRUCK PULL Drivers of Norbert Dentressangle depot at Gloucester are manually pulling a 38 tonne truck from their depot in Lower Tuffley Lane, off Bristol Road, Gloucester up Bristol Road and into the centre of Gloucester and onto Gloucester Docks (approximately 3.5 miles) to raise funds for Afghan Heroes. I am an ex Paratrooper, now a serving Strathclyde Police Officer. I am taking part in a once in a life time event to raise money for Afghan Heroes, a charity I strongly favour. The event I am participating in is the 2500th Anniversary Marathon 31st October from the town Marathon to the city centre in Athens, Greece. The event costs off this trip has been paid by myself and I hope to raise as much money as possible to support our troops in Afghan. As well as this I am also participating in the Clyde Stride 40mile race in July, Great Scottish 10k run in September, Lochness Marathon in October and more to follow. In 2004 I left the 3rd Battilion The Parachute Regiment as they were getting ready to deploy to Afgan and subsequently joined the police. After 6 yrs of being in the police and seeing countless news articles of soldiers being killed I have decided to lace up my running shows and raise money for Afghan Heroes. My brother is still a serving Paratrooper and has conducted numerous tours of Afghan to date and as such I am still aware of just how testing the conditions are out there. Chairing the evening will be Arthur Molinary, Arthur is also an international medium, Arthur has written a book called The Boy who Listened, Arthur has worked at the CPS for twenty years teaching and giving readings from Royalty, Politicians and helping solve crime, Arthur has very kindly donated 20 copies of his book , The Boy Who Listened by Ronald Hearn , The signed copies will be sold on the night and all proceeds will go to the Afghan Heroes charity ... At the end of the evening we will be joined by Julia Sheperd who will talk through a healing that will be sent to all those serving in Afghanistan with help from all healers attending on the night. There will be a short interval with refreshments and raffle tickets available to purchase, there will be a raffle at the end of the evening.
